Work Like A Dog…February 21st, 2012

One of the best parts of arriving to work at The Dormy House is the fact that we boast a dog-friendly office.

This year we all had a lovely surprise when we returned to find that Barney was the latest addition to our team. With his button nose and big mischievous eyes he’s very hard not to adore. Every morning behind the stampede of feet entering The Dormy House you can hear Barney fumbling up the stairs at full steam to perform his usual ‘meet and greet’. This currently consists of jumping on anyone and everyone within range to wish them all a good morning.

Not only have we all become rather fond of Barney, but Barney has become rather fond of The Dormy House offices and the furniture we have in situ here. His new favorite item is a rather spectacular Louis Armchair we have in the Fabric Room. Admittedly he does look rather grand sat upon it with our Pebbles 02 fabric giving a subtle impression of ‘Dog Royalty’.

No doubt Barney will become a very familiar face here at The Dormy House for many years to come.

Small furniture additions can add that wow factorFebruary 9th, 2012

We offer a unique bespoke element that you’re unlikely to find elsewhere… Our classic collection of beautiful and practical furniture and soft furnishings will have something to please all tastes and blend seamlessly with your existing home decor.

Small furniture additions can add that wow factor without committing to a whole new scheme.  Good Homes magazine shows exactly this in the March issue with our upholstered cubes covered in Fougere Portico Acacia fabric from Romo @ £39.50/m, and upholstered screen in Nevada Tropical fabric (5920/522) @£15.99/m from Prestigious Textiles.

Remember! We are always happy to  source fabrics outside of our collection.

Take a fresh look for your home – Ideal Home March 2012 issueFebruary 6th, 2012

After a long, dreary winter, there’s nothing better than welcoming spring!

The March magazine issues are out now with tantalising scenes of fresher looking days.

Ideal Home magazine have used our decorative wall shelf on their front cover and inside feature on Vintage classics. We love the way they have papered the wall behind the shelf making it truly original!

Grab a bargain! at our annual factory sale – 11th & 12th NovemberOctober 27th, 2011

The dates are set !

Friday 11th November at 3.30pm – 7.30pm and

Saturday 12th November 9.30am – 12.30pm

– remember to put these dates in your diaries!

Our annual not-to-be-missed factory sale allows us to sell many products that have been building up in our ‘container’ over the course of the year. These are furniture pieces that have been made especially for press loans or our own photo shoots. Some pieces are seconds but not many!  There is a wonderful array of  footstools, headboards, ottomans, chairs, tables, wardrobes (lots of painted furniture) lamps and shades and piles and piles of wonderful fabrics to rummage through.

Remember to dress warm! The factory doors are wide open and it does get very chilly!   You can even grab yourself a  tasty hot dog (courtesy of  John Robinson Butchers, Stockbridge) and hot drinks too.

Come early to avoid disappointment – but please not before 3.30pm! – We start setting up at 12pm and we need time to lay out the furniture.

All our customers are welcome but we appreciate that it will primarily be our local customers who will attend.

We do hope as many of you can make it and look forward to seeing you!

Winter catalogue collection delights!October 12th, 2011

The earthy colours of our stunning new Casablanca fabric collection has an Autumnal feel which is perfect for a day like today, kicking through the rusty coloured fallen leaves  . But if you’re more concerned with the indoors, then hopefully you will have received our new Winter Catalogue brimming with many new products for you to choose from.

Beautiful and practical storage solutions were a key focus to our new range and it appears that we were bang on trend as our new designs have been selling rapidly. Modular or discreet, take your pick! It appears that our new Armoires for both the office  and the kitchen are just what were missing in many of your homes. And our ever popular Double Benches are now hiding many a shoe in hallways all over the place!

And if you want to add a bit of shimmer to your walls, why not hang up a few of our new Vintage inspired mirrors? These were produced after a brainstorming session for our photo shoot back in the summer, where we decided that we could make our own versions rather than trawling through ebay for the originals. When time is short, bidding on items becomes somewhat of a chore. So we’ve made things a little easier for you!

We do hope you feel inspired by our new Catalogue. We were all thrilled with the results of our shoot. Christmas in July is always a bit of an odd one but we did enter into the festive spirit by over indulging on too many biscuits!

And with the festive period soon approaching, we’ll be sharing some thoughts on how to adorn your home with some Dormy House decorative flair!
