Choosing modular storage for your rooms

We offer modular storage to solve the specific storage needs encountered in many rooms. For the bedroom, take a look at modular wardrobes as well as modular chests of drawers. Together, they allow you to keep your entire wardrobe easy to find, and in good condition. For the kitchen-diner, we have modular larder units that provide a place to keep small appliances and dry ingredients. When it comes to both living spaces and bedrooms, our modular TV and media storage lets you create a place to position your TV screen plus the combination of set-top boxes and consoles in your household. You can also customise storage for the remainder of the living room with New Hampshire modular units and modular wall storage, and modular bookcases. We haven’t neglected home offices, either. Both desks and filing cabinets are part of our modular range, so you can get the storage you need from our handsome designs. There are modular options for kids’ rooms, too, which will allow you to hide away plenty but won’t stop them keeping their most treasured items on display.

Planning modular storage

The amount you need to store, how much of it there is now and how much there is likely to be in the future, and the space you have available to position your modular design are all crucial when you’re buying. Start by thinking about the items you need to put away in the storage and whether any group of things is likely to grow. For example, what you need to put into a modular larder might be a collection of ingredients, cookware and small appliances that is likely to stay steady in the total volume it takes up. But if you’re planning modular bookcases, perhaps your collection will grow, so that planning in the extra space within the design now is a good strategy. When it comes to tall storage like wardrobes, and wall storage, these designs can turn dead wall space into storage, but do consider access and plan to put rarely used items or decorative pieces, for instance, in the highest sections of tall furniture.

Including open and closed modular storage

In many of our modular storage designs both open shelves and cubbyhole units are available together with cupboards and drawers, and it’s essential to think about the balance of these elements so that you end up with the optimum design for your rooms. The advantage of open units is that items are readily accessible – think shoes and boots in our boot room wall storage, or collections in the living room. Bear in mind that what’s on show does need to look ordered and attractive. Items like books are perfect candidates for display, of course, but if it’s paperwork and documents on the shelves decorative box files and folders are a good idea so they don’t look messy. The other necessity with open areas of storage? Well, you will have to keep up with the dusting. Include closed storage in your modular design – that is cupboards and drawers – and you can hide away the things you don’t want on display. Here, it's crucial to size the units to the contents with enough drawers for small items, and cupboards with interior shelves for larger essentials.
