Think about other finishes and colourways when you’re selecting a bench seat cushion. Do you want to create contrast with the paint finish you’ve chosen for the bench or modular units on which it’s going to be positioned? If you’ve opted for one of our paler paint colours, you may like to add an accent of colour with your choice of bench seat cushion upholstery. Where you’ve gone for colours such as our mid blue or inky blue for the bench seat, on the other hand, you might like to repeat that tone as part of a pattern to create a pulled-together look for your bench seat. Bench seats can have modern country appeal, so fabrics with floral or striped patterns can create a brilliant complement. You can easily search for fabrics in these categories in our fabric collection, narrowing down your selection by colour as well, if you prefer. You don’t have to go for a country look, of course. Choose a geometric or abstract pattern for a bench seat cushion and you can create contemporary appeal.
Our bench seat pads are all 7.5cm depth, so they provide comfort whether you’re sitting down briefly to take shoes on and off, in spaces where they’re used as additional seating – for example in the living room – and as seating in kids’ rooms. We think they’re a brilliant way to encourage family members to take their shoes off when they’re coming into the house, and this can help you keep your home cleaner as what’s stuck on the bottom of footwear isn’t tracked across carpet and tiles. They add a softness to a bench seat that makes it part of a living room scheme, too, and, wherever it’s placed, a bench seat pad can introduce a pop of colour, adding interest to any space.
Window seat storage can make use of an otherwise dead area below a window in your home. By combining a seat cushion on top with generous storage inside the window seat it can make any space work harder, concealing clutter and introducing occasional seating that’s useful when the whole family’s in one space, or for festivities like Christmas. Window seat storage is ideal for family homes when children are young because it’s easy to do a sweep of the floor for toys at the end of the day and put everything away inside once they’ve gone to bed to restore calm in a living space. It works equally well to provide extra tidying away space in their bedrooms as well as in yours, where throws and bed linen can be stored inside.
